a few exciting things

Some friends from Michigan (who now live in California) visited my family this weekend, and also last weekend. They were visiting some friends from up north (I'm not sure exactly where) and stopped at our house on their drive to and from their house. It was nice to visit with them; they stayed for the evening and slept with us.
I have Wednesday off for Veterans Day; I don't have much else going on this week, other than the start of the second quarter of the school year.

not much new

The one thing I'm happy about this week is a significant reduction in the amount of homework I need to do each night. My math teacher told me that I don't need to work on my homework for more than an hour; though I'm pretty good at math, some problems take more time for me than they should. Also, for my GOALS class, where there usually are lectures, there is a final test for the quarter this week; I won't need to edit my lecture notes, but just study for the final.
I am not looking forward to anything this month (except for maybe Thanksgiving weekend). I am tihinking about staying at the cottages at my school soon; the one benefit I want to get from there is
to learn some more skills related to preparing meals and similar things (I have a Daily Living Skills class right now, but this would give me more time to polish the skills for when I need them later in life).

very busy

Every day I spend the afternoon and evening doing my homework; this sometimes can take me quite a long time for some reasons I still don't understand. This week, I don't have much time to study for my final for the quarter next week. (The class that this is in is GOALS, a class designed to help people live successfully as they get older).
It is still cold outside--but not raining. I wore my new coat today and still felt cold sometimes.
I will probably stay home and not do much for Halloween. I will definitely need to take some time to study for my final. There isn't any exciting event I can think of before at least Thanksgiving.

not much exciting

Last Thursday night was the open house, and that was probably one of the few enjoyable things over the past two weeks. My English class read some poetry of our own as well as a short poem by Edgar Alan Poe. We also had some tasty desserts that some of the other students and staff of the school made.
I don't have much to look forward to. I will need to study hard this week for a test for one of my classes that I can't use notes for. I seem to be tired often (probably because I have to get up early for school). It is usually chilly here; it rained yesterday but is mostly just cold and windy.

still not much new

I am thinking about careers I could have for after college for my research project this year. I am thinking about computer science projects such as programming right now.
The open house at my school is tomorrow; I will also be watching a Spanish version of the movie Metagascar with English subtitles for Spanish class later this week.

not much new

Since many people at my school are sick, I am trying to stay well. I feel like I am starting to get the cold, but still feel good enough for school.
I seem to be doing well in my Spanish class; I got 100 percent on my last test.
I am looking forward to the open house on Thursday. Friday will be interesting because the school where I take my Spanish class is in will be closed. I will then get plenty of time to finish some of my schoolwork that seems to take me so long to finish.

back from California

On Friday, my dad picked me up from school, and within an hour, our family was off to California for my grandpa's memorial service the next day. I worked on some homework, while my siblings listened to music and watched some DVD's. We spent the night in Sacramento, and drove for an hour and a half to the church where the service was held.
It definitely had some sad parts to it, but I was glad that my grandpa lived a pretty long life and did many good things. We had some food, and even a good amount of dessert, afterwards. We spent the rest of the day at my grandma's house near Stockton; many of her relatives were there helping her manage her life.
Yesterday, we left early in the morning to drive all the way back to our house; I mostly just rested and listened to the radio. When we got back late last night, I unpacked some of my luggage and then just went to bed. I couldn't seem to sleep for the next few hours.
Today is picture day at my school; I still look forward to the open house on Thursday. That day, my parents will get to find out about many things that I've done.

off to California

This afternoon, my family will drive down to California for my grandpa's memorial service tomorrow. We'll be back home in time for school next week.
I am getting a head start on my Junior Project for English. I am looking forward to the open house at my school next week, but nothing else this month.
I spent yesterday afternoon with the rest of my school; we talked about the White Cane, the device that helps us, as blind people, navigate. Since yesterday was National White Cane Awareness Day, we walked around the block and showed some people what this meant.

not much new

My Grandpa has his memorial service this weekend, and my school's open house is next Thursday, but no other big events seem to be going on in my life for the rest of the month. Some people have the cold so I'm trying to stay healthy.
The past few days, it has been very chilly, rainy, and windy. It will probably be like this for the rest of this week. When I go down to California it should be warmer there; in the meantime I'm spending quite a bit of time outside in the cold weather. Iam trying to stay warm; my parents and I will try to look for a winter coat that fits me.

not much new stuff

This weekend, I just worked on homework and did a tiny bit of shopping. I also got to get a little bit of extra rest.
I just found out this morning that my grandpa's memorial service will be on the 17th of this month. We will probably want to go down to California the day before and return the day after. I can't think of any exciting things to do this month, especially because I have so many things I'll need to do for school and also will want to get caught up with my personal life.

a sad week

This week was pretty sadfor my family. My mom and siblings went down to California last weekend to see my Grandpa in the hospital; they arrived just a few hours before he died on Monday. Now they are helping my Grandma; they will probably be back next week.
That means my dad and I are the only ones home; since my dad doesn't cook as often as my mom does, so we are eating out for dinner more than we usually do. I also have a good amount of homework most days, making me more busy than ever.
I don't have plans for this weekend; my Grandpa's funeral won't be for a while because his pastor is out of town. I'll probably want to sleep in a few more hours, especially since I have to get up so early every day for school and often go to bed late to make sure my homework for the next day is done and do everything else I need to.

a busy year

This year I have many interesting classes. I have a Spanish class at the school down the street and an online U.S. History class. I also have many classes at my school that I will be doing so many things in. That will all add up to so much work--and homework--this school year. I will probably do more research projects than ever before.
This summer I did several exciting things--including flying out to my cousin's wedding in New Jersey, going to a science and technology event in Baltimore, and going to an employment-related program at my school.

last week of school

This week, I will only be at school for three days, and the last day, Wednesday, is a half day. After that, school will be over!
This summer, I am going to go to many different places. The day after school ends, my family will be going to my cousin's wedding in New Jersey that weekend. The week after that, I well be going back to my school for a summer employment program called YES, for ten days. A month later, I will fly to Baltimore for an event called a Youth Slam in which me and some other blind people launch rockets, build robots, and do other science and technology-related things. Some time in July, I might see my grandparents in California.
This weekend, I watched my sister Sophia get baptized, but other than that, it was pretty much normal.
Almost two weeks ago, I went to Oaks Park, a small amusement park, with other highschoolers at my school. I felt queasy after some of the rides, but it was pretty good (I spent half the time just sitting around while other people were riding).

Monday

The last few weeks were filled with a few exciting things. Last Thursday was my school's spring concert and volunteer recognition program. I performed Taquila on the piano and Hound Dog on the electric bass, both as part of my school's beginning band. Many people there thought I performed really good.
On the Sunday before that, my church had its annual Memorial Day picnic. This time it was held at a small airport/airplane museum; the reason for this was because the church wanted to dedicate a new airplane they would use for transportation of missionaries to remote countries. I got to look at that airplane as well as an old one that they were using. I learned that the new one has many more features (and is definitely more rugged) than the old one.
This Thursday, I will go down to a small amusement park with the rest of the highschoolers from my school for much of the day. Last year, I went there and liked it a lot. Most of the stuff there was good and the rides weren't bad.
Next week is the rod rally at my school, where I help a driver go on a certain route in an old car. Most of my family will be there for that. I enjoyed the event when I went there the last few years.
After that, I will only have a few more days of school, and than a long summer filled with events. It will start with my cousin's wedding in New Jersey in mid-June.

Monday

During the last few weekends, it has been very nice and sunny outside. My family went to a few garage sales (though I didn't find anything that I want). My dad was outside doing yardwork, but I mostly stayed inside because of my bad alergies. Even when I did stay inside, my alergies were bad enough that I had to take some extra alergy medicine because they seemed to keep me up all night on Saturday night.
On Thursday night my family went to the school's carnival. It was pretty good. On the cake walk, my family got two cakes as well as a box of doghnuts. In the games I played there, I won several different prizes (mostly just little plastic toys I'm not always interested in), winning most of the prizes available there.
This week there are a few exciting things. My school is having a career fair on Wednesday and a track meet on Thursday, both during the regular class time, leaving only two and a half days of school this week, with Friday always being a half day at my school.
After next week, there is my spring concert, and a few more exciting events to wrap up the school year in the following weeks. I only have a month left of
school!

Friday

This week wasn't that exciting, but last week was pretty exciting. That's because I went to Camp Magruder, a science camp that students at my school go to every year. We went boating, fishing, and hiking, and learned some things about science. It was pretty fun.
The day before camp was my birthday, and I got a few good presents--including some new things I added to my collections of calculators and radios.
Something else happened a few weeks ago that I'm very proud about. On My report card, I got an A in all of my classes.
The next few weeks should be pretty exciting as well. Next week is the prom and my school's carnival. Since they happen on the same night, I would chose to go to the carnival just because the prom seems a bit expensive for what it is.
After that, there is the track meet at my school the following week, and only a few more weeks of school after that.

I'm going to a party tonight!

This week, since many of the people at my school are doing the WASL (the assessment test), and I don't need to take it because I passed it last year, I don't need to do much in school this week. I will only have a few assignments I need to do.
One of my friends is having a birthday party at my school tonight. I am excited because not only will I eat some good food there, but I might do some other fun things.
Over the next few weeks, there is my birthday and science camp, but not much else.

back from spring break

Last week was spring break, so my family took a vacation to Hawaii. We flew to Honalulu on Tuesday morning, got there that evening, and got to go to the Waikiki beach the next day. On Friday we visitted the Pearl Harbor memorial; we flew home late that night and got back Saturday morning. The weather in Hawaii was good, with a good amount of sunshine, quite a bit of wind, and a little rain.
There are a few things happening this month, but not for the next few weeks. My birthday is coming up on the 26th--I'll be 16--and I will have my school's science camp the week after that.

I'm going to Hawaii

Last week was very unusual. Many of the students at my school were taking the assessment test. But since I had already passed it last year (I took it a year earlier than usual), I went to the library with my friend for the reading contest. I haven't won it anything from it yet, but I might win something at the end of this week (this is the last week of the contest) since I will probably do a good amount of reading (both short stories and longer books) and have done quite a bit of reading this month.
Last weekend my parents planned a vacation for my family for next week, which is spring break at my school. We decided to go to Hawaii for a few days. We will fly to Honalulu next Tuesday and come back next Thursday night. We will do so many fun things, but we dont know exactly what we'll do (it might be a little bit rainy there). Some of my friends went to Hawaii and liked it there, but one of them said he got sick there.
My alergies are starting to kick in, and my eyes often itch, even when I'm in my room with my air filter.

my grandparents are gone

My grandparents left town for their house this morning.
Yesterday I didn't do much with them. But Monday night was very exciting. I got to go swimming with my sisters, brother, and grandparents at the pool at my grandparents' hotel and go in the hot tub. After that we relaxed in the hotel and had some dinner fwe ordered from McDonalds.
/Tomorrow is only a half day of school for me, and Friday I don't have school at all. I probably won't do much on Friday, because my mom has surgury relating to her cancer condition.

Monday

My grandparents from California came to my house on Saturday night. The train that they took was a little late, but they managed to get to my house before my family went to bed. Yesterday I went out with my siblings and grandparents. We went shopping and got some milkshakes.
Tonight, I might go swimming in the pool at the hotel my grandparents are staying in. I like going swimming, but haven't gone swimming since last summer. I will regularly go swimming once my school's new pool (in it's new fitness building) opens in a few weeks. The last time I regularly swam (about twice every week) was when my school's old pool (also located in the fitness building) was still open, before the building was torn down, last March.
In English, my class is reading a book called Einstein's Dreams by Alan Lightman, a fictional book where Albert Einstein dreams of different theories that are not completely true. It is kind of an interesting book.

my sisters' birthday

Both of my sisters have their birthday today. I might give an oral presentation (about problems in the American economy) tomorrow.
I am slowly learning how to play "Hound Dog" on the electric bass (the song that Elvis sang, but this is a somewhat different version of it).
Next week will be a short week of school for me. I get home early on Thursday, and on that Friday the teachers at my school will go to a conference.
